Erik Norby

Erik Norby (1936-2007), Danish Composer.

Erik Norby's love for Elizabethan Love songs was founded in his early age, and he composed the most magnificent music for flute to enhance theese beautiful musical gems of The Renaissance.  These songs for soprano, flute and guitare have been given a totally new and dramatic dimension through Norby's rewriting of the songs.

Having studied theory and composition at the Royal Academy of Music with Finn Høffding and Per Nørgård, Erik Norby became a most inspired composer. His works include orchestral and chamber music, piano works, songs, and educational music. From the year of 1966 Erik Norby worked a professor of music theory and composition at Aalborg Academy of Music.
